Safer 6 Campaign 2022

16.10.2022

It’s Sandwell’s annual ‘6 weeks, 6 towns’ community safety partnership campaign aimed at raising awareness, boosting engagement with our communities, tackling concerns and showcasing services and support available that are available all year round to help people stay safe.

Each week will have a focus on a specific town and there will be a number of themes running throughout the campaign.

Activities will be in person and online. If you're a partner or community organisation and want to get involved with any activities or would like to discuss ways in which you can contribute, please email the Community Safety Team.

In a Safeguarding Adults Review (SAR) in 2021, one of the recommendations was “to ensure that all frontline services in Sandwell use robust alcohol screening tools such as the AUDIT tool to identify alcohol related risk for clients.” This led to the creation of a pack of screening tools, which are accompanied by a set of Brief Intervention guides for Alcohol, Drugs, and Wellbeing. The tools will be officially launched at these events.

The Safer 6 campaign gives an opportunity to spotlight the Alcohol and Drug services of DECCA and Cranstoun; as well as strengthening and developing relationships with stakeholders across the borough, so Safer 6 is planning to have a ‘networking marketplace’ session following the training input. All delegates attending the training are invited to bring their own leaflets and literature to the event for the Networking Marketplace.

This is a free event for anyone working with people in Sandwell, to launch new practical tools that everyone can use.

There are limited places, so email your booking to Nick Shough at Nick1_shough@sandwell.gov.uk as soon as possible with your name, organisation and contact details, and which day you would like to attend. You will receive a confirmation email with further details.  Refreshments will be available but please bring your own lunch.
