Understanding Extremism 

This 1-day Sandwell focused training explores issues relating to the ideology of Global Jihadism and the Extreme Far Right; it will equip delegates with the ideological understanding that underpins different extremist groups. It will allow attendees to be able to identify influencing factors and how these ideas can be challenged. A look into the safeguarding and referral process will also be explored. 

This is online training which will be delivered on Microsoft teams by two facilitators. Next training dates are below:

  • 19 September 2023 at 9.30am – 4.00pm 
  • 8 November 2023 at 9.30am – 4.00pm 
  • 15 February 2024 at 9.30am – 4.00pm 

Community Understanding Extremism 

  • 18 January 2024 at 10.00am -12.00noon 

Localised Sandwell Prevent Awareness Training 

This 2-hour training explores issues relating to terrorism, radicalisation and safeguarding for people and communities. We will think about who may be vulnerable to terrorism and gain knowledge around the aim of Prevent. You will learn why some people have the ability to influence and manipulate others to commit crimes. 

This is online training which will be delivered on Microsoft teams by a facilitator. Next training dates are below:

  • 23 August 2023 at 2.00pm – 4.00pm 
  • 21 September 2023 at 2.00pm – 4.00pm 
  • 19 October 2023 at 2.00pm – 4.00pm 
  • 14 November 2023 at 2.00pm – 4.00pm 
  • 8 December 2023 at 10.00am – 12.00noon  

Sandwell Learn Training 

This course has been produced to provide an overview on Radicalisation, the Prevent duty, and the Channel Panel. It also provides information on different extremist groups, language they may use, what to look out for - such as different signs and symbols. It is recommended that all staff complete this easily accessible training. 

This is an online training package which you navigate through yourself. It takes about an hour to complete. This training is free but only available to staff, partners and professionals who work in Sandwell.
