Our Future is a project delivered by Black Country Women’s Aid Children’s Advocacy Team. Our Future underpins Operation Encompass, a police and education partnership in which police provide notifications to schools when there has been a call-out to a child’s home relating to domestic abuse. Our Future is for children and young people who are affected by domestic abuse within the home. As a specialist domestic abuse service, the Service in Sandwell is in place to support children and young people that are open to Children's Social Care who require in depth support and advocacy to ensure that the child’s voice is heard. Our Future offers a range of school based support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse, and is available for children and young people aged between 5-18 years.

Direct support for children following a notification of domestic abuse, including one to one support and advocacy to include;
- Safety and Support Planning
- Goals and Aspirations
- Healthy Relationships
- Managing and Understanding emotions
- Resilience and Managing Challenges
- Self Esteem and Self Awareness

Group support programmes tailored to a range of ages;
- Awareness raising and prevention work for children and young people
- Attendance at core group meetings, child protection conferences and any other meetings deemed necessary so that the child’s voice can be heard and considered in any actions.

In addition to direct support with children and young people, we offer advice and support to schools on risk assessment, the effect of domestic abuse on children, and helping children to feel safe and engage at school. Professionals Training is also available on request to understand the impact of domestic abuse on children and young people.
