All children deserve a safe and loving childhood. However, 1 in 5 children witness or are exposed to domestic abuse. Our therapeutic support project is designed to help young domestic abuse and sexual violence survivors from Sandwell through specialist counselling.

We are supporting children/young people aged 7-18 with 10, 1-2-1 therapy sessions delivered at their school/college. We are delivering the programme over term time from June 24 – May 25. Therapy sessions are based around creative play that is developmentally or chronologically appropriate for each child.

Accessibility details
t BCWA we listen to our client community, keep them safe, support their recovery and act on their feedback. Feedback and consultation is fed up through our governance structure to influence quality, strategy and policy. Our clients are our experts; learning from their lived experience is integral to how we run, develop and enhance our services. We treat clients with respect, earn their trust, and ensure that they are fully engaged with their recovery. Our clients help us to learn, adapt and evolve so that we can guarantee a responsive, high-quality range of services. Our spaces are wheelchair-accessible. With our younger clients, we talk to every child and young person in confidence, listening carefully to their story and reassuring them that we believe them. Everyone is treated as an individual, and we consider their gender, culture, ethnicity and sexuality (for older children) to provide the best support. We empower all our young clients, sharing information with them so that they can make their own decisions. We are here to help them through new, sometimes disquieting experiences as they process their trauma. Our fully-trained, skilled frontline staff understand the trauma, barriers and delays surrounding domestic abuse. This richness of experience, combined with our quality of service, makes us credible client advocates who act without judgement. Our diverse pool of counsellors enables us to accommodate requests for bilingual counselling (Punjabi/Pushto), or counsellors with a shared religious faith. We can also provide BSL interpreters.
