LGBTQ+ training for workers supporting CYP - 240 funded places available!

15.01.2024

This online course focuses on the following:

TERMINOLOGY, LEGISLATION AND INEQUALITIES: This training will give you a great foundation to understand common language within LGBTQ+ communities, an awareness of inequalities that LGBTQ+ people experience within society, healthcare, and at work as well as insight into equality legislation relating to LGBTQ+ people in a national and global context. This module is ideal if you have little or no experience with LGBTQ+ people but want to feel more confident in conversations, understanding the law and sources of support for LGBTQ+ people.

ASKING LGBTQ+ INCLUSIVE QUESTIONS AND HAVING CHALLENGING CONVERSATIONS:  This training will help you feel more confident in asking for someone’s pronouns and teach you what to do if you do make a mistake. You’ll also learn how to recognise and challenge homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. This training will be especially helpful for supporting someone who is “coming out” as LGBTQ+, embracing their identity with hope and joy.

This training is available for voluntary and statutory sector colleagues. More than one place per organisation can be provided but the Foundation would like to ensure access and take up is fairly distributed across the 4 regions.  20 people can attend each module. People can choose to do both modules and just book onto one module.

If you would like to attend please complete the Expression of Interest (EoI) Form https://www.scvo.info/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Expression-of-Interest-for-LGBTQ-Training-to-support-young-people-FINAL.docx
